An Illuminated City

Taipei Lantern Festival

Each year around the middle of the first lunar month,
the Taipei Lantern Festival illuminates the city with
dazzling displays that blend traditional lantern
craftsmanship with modern lighting technology.
Centered around Ximending, the festival features
themed zones, street art installations, and live
performances. It also includes collaborations with
international artists, sister cities, and local temples.

The highlight of the event is the main lantern,
designed each year based on the Chinese zodiac,
brought to life through choreographed light and
music shows—showcasing Taipei’s unique blend of
creativity and cultural spirit.
